Welcome

Hello, welcome to my online office. I believe that effectively representing Oakland County communities in Congress requires ongoing communication with local residents.  This site is designed to provide you with a way to share your views with me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and for me to keep you up-to-date on important issues that affect our region and country.  This site provides one central location for you to get information on issues and legislation, access services that I can provide and tell me what's on your mind whenever you like.  I believe that a Member of Congress should do more listening than talking, so please feel free to contact me frequently.

Thanks so much,

Gary Peters

I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU ON HEALTH CARE

Health care reform legislation is currently moving through the legislative process in Congress.  I’ve been holding roundtable meetings to discuss solutions to our healthcare crisis with Oakland County residents and medical professionals. I want to hear from as many local residents as possible. Please click here to send me your thoughts on the best solutions for making our health care system more affordable and more stable.

For more information on the health care bill being considered in the House (H.R. 3200, “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009”) please view the full text here, the bill summary here, and the health care bill timeline here.    This bill will continue to change as it moves through three House committees who share jurisdiction over the legislation. There is also a separate proposal being considered in the Senate.  For more information about the work being done in House committees, please click on the links below.

To maximize transparency, I and other Members of the House of Representatives have asked Congressional leadership to make the final health care bill available to Congress and the American people for a reasonable period before a final vote occurs.  Because of our request, Congressional leadership has committed that the final bill will be available online for at least 48 hours before the final vote.  Please check back here for a final draft of the bill once committee action is completed.  Thank you.
