Reyes Announces Over $10.3 Million in Weatherization and Homeless Prevention Grants for El Paso
Congressman Reyes announced on Friday that the El Paso region will receive over $8.2 million in Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) awards and over $2 million in Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) awards from one-time funds provided to the State through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. “I am pleased that Recovery funding continues to provide much needed assistance to our low-income families and create jobs for our community,” Congressman Reyes said. “Because of Texas’ weather extremes, the inability to keep up with energy costs can pose a health and safety issue for many of our most vulnerable El Pasoans. The weatherization funds can help mitigate these potential problems and make a long-term investment in our community.
