Welcome Message
I am proud to serve the people of Iowa's 3rd Congressional District. The 111th Congress faces many significant challenges, the most glaring of these being the revitalization and recovery of our national economy, which depends so heavily on our health care system. The U.S. spends approximately 17 percent of our gross domestic product on health care, yet we have 46 million American’s without insurance. Over the past two years, one in every four Iowans has gone without health coverage. Some lost their job and their insurance along with it, many simply could not afford the sky rocketing costs. This is exactly why I have supported reform and the creation of a public option so we may provide relief to America’s health care system. Congress has a landmark opportunity to cover all Americans and contain the cost of health care. I have been working with my colleagues to do just this and create a bill that will work for all Americans, including Iowans. I invite you discover more about my priorities and why this bill must benefit each state in America, including ours. Also, be sure to take the health care survey, and tell me what you think.
